People Powering Perisher — Meet Dave

September 2018

Area manager of South Perisher lift operations

There are many amazing men and women at Perisher, working hard behind the scenes to make sure the mountain is fun and safe for you to visit. We have asked a Perisher Veteran of 15 snowy seasons about his time on the mountain and how he’s always making sure you have a great time at Perisher.

What do you do at Perisher and how long have you been there?

My name is Dave, I’m the area manager of South Perisher lift operations.

This is my 15th season at Perisher, I started back in 2004 as a lift fitter. I suppose I got the snow bug and couldn’t leave. In my area I have 13 lifts, about 60 lift operators and 8 mountain staff. All that put together is never a dull moment.

What do you love the most about working at Perisher?

What keeps me coming back is definitely the people for sure, both staff and guests. Sunrise at the top of Mount Perisher is pretty special, not many people can say they’ve seen that. Really, have a look at the office I work in, why wouldn’t I like it?

What is 1 piece of advice you’d give to people travelling to Perisher?

If I could give advice to anybody who wants to come down to Perisher, the best thing I could say is get a lesson, the snow sport school is fantastic here. Once you’ve done that get out and see the whole resort, there is so much to explore. Don’t limit yourself to one area and have fun!

If you spot Dave at Perisher resort, be sure to say hello and thank him for his great work.
