New South Wales Snowfields
As part of the Snowy Hydro family, Red Energy is deeply connected to the Snowy Mountains. We are proud to support the local events and initiatives that drive community development across the region.
Supporting local communities
Red Energy, which is 100% Australian-owned by Snowy Hydro, serves as the official electricity partner for the major New South Wales alpine resorts: Perisher, Thredbo, Charlotte Pass, and Selwyn Snow Resort.
Each of these resorts are located within the Kosciuszko National Park, the same backyard where the Snowy Scheme’s hydro-electric assets operate, so the partnerships are very dear to Red Energy’s heritage.
Renewable Energy at Thredbo
Since 2019, Red has powered Thredbo’s major resort operations with 100% renewable energy. Through our partnership, Red Energy and Snowy Hydro has allowed Thredbo to purchase their power from renewable sources - one of many environmental initiatives Thredbo is extremely proud of. Achieving this goal is an environmental milestone in the Australian ski industry.
Powering the slopes, supporting the community
At resorts like Perisher, Red Energy powers critical infrastructure - from snowmaking machines and the Skitube to chairlifts and administrative hubs. But we do more than just keep the lights on. Our partnership helps deliver children’s snowsports programs, fund resort staff uniforms and offset equipment costs.

Cooma Community Bus
The Cooma Community & Sporting Bus is a vital service helping young athletes, schools, local clubs and community groups travel to games, carnivals, events and activities across the Snowy Mountains and south-east NSW. We’re glad to play a part in keeping everyone moving. In regional areas where distance can be a barrier, this bus brings opportunity closer, helping local talent stay active, connected and supported.
