Frequently Asked Questions
-
Is this energy plan a good fit for my household?
This plan works best if you can shift your heavy electricity use between 11am-4pm. It is ideal if someone is home during the day, or if you can use timers and smart automation to run high electricity appliances (like dryers or hot water boosting) during 11am-4pm. If your house is empty all day or you do most of your cooking, heating, and laundry early in the morning or late at night, another plan may suit you better.
-
What times are the 5 hours of free electricity?
The free usage period is between 11:00 AM and 4:00 PM every day.
-
What happens if I go over the 15 kWh daily cap?
You get up to 15kWh of primary load electricity usage per day during the 11am-4pm window. Any usage exceeding 15kWh will be charged at standard Time of Use rates.
-
Do I need a smart meter?
A digital smart meter is required to accurately track and deduct your free midday usage. If you don't have one, our team can help organise an upgrade.
-
Do standard daily supply charges still apply?
Controlled loads and daily supply charges still apply during the free usage period.
-
Can I get this offer if I have solar panels or a battery?
You can absolutely still use this plan. However the Red Power5 plan features a Solar Feed-in Tariff (FiT) of 0 cents/kWh and is specifically designed as a "solar sharer" offer for households without solar or batteries to benefit from midday energy prices.
-
Will I keep my existing rewards and perks if I switch?
No. Switching to this plan means you will give up other plan benefits, such as earning Qantas Points or contributing to partner charities like the Breast Cancer Network Australia (BCNA).
