The Snowy Hydro story
The Snowy Hydro story started in 1949 when work began on the Snowy Mountains Hydro-electric Scheme, widely regarded as one of the engineering wonders of the world. The project gave 100,000 migrants from over 30 countries the opportunity to start a new life after World War Two, changing Australia’s society and culture to a new multicultural way of life forever.
In 2004, Snowy Hydro acquired Red Energy who now look after customers in Victoria, South Australia, New South Wales, ACT and South-East Queensland.
