Qantas Points can be redeemed for amazing rewards including all the elements that make up the perfect holiday. What’s more, you can earn points virtually everywhere – including by signing up to Red Energy on a Qantas-aligned Red Energy Plan for electricity and/or gas^, and paying your bills on time! How to up your points game: the basics
Use your Qantas Points earning credit card on your everyday spending*
A credit card that earns you Qantas Points is a smart way to pay every day. By turning the purchases you’re already making into Qantas Points, you’ll earn points faster, so you could travel sooner. This includes paying for groceries, utilities, insurance, mobile phone bills your daily coffee and more! Of course, you reap the most value doing this only if you pay your credit card back in full each month. If you’ve got a partner or family member who does the shopping and deals with the household expenses, opt for a card that allows multiple cardholders so you never miss a points-earning opportunity. There are over 50 Qantas Points earning credit cards on offer so you can choose the card that’s right for you.
Double dip on Qantas Points
There are so many ways that you can earn Qantas Points on your everyday spend. Such as paying with a credit card that earns you Qantas Points so you earn points twice, meaning you could be on your way to your next getaway sooner than you think.
Be a savvy shopper
You’re probably already shopping with online retailers. By shopping at your favourite stores through sites such as the Qantas Online Mall, you can earn up to 7 Qantas Points per dollar spent. Just log in with your Frequent Flyer details and click through to your chosen store to shop as per normal.
Booking your next holiday? From cruises, insurance and car hire to hotel accommodation and even pet sitting, Qantas has a diverse range of partnerships to cover almost all of your travel needs. That means you could be using one escape to earn points for the next.
Link your accounts
Do a quick review of your many memberships, accounts and credit cards. If you find some that can earn you points, link them to your Frequent Flyer account. All this might take a little bit of personal admin time but the effort will definitely pay off.
Even more ways to earn: levelling up
Electricity/Gas: Power up your Qantas Points by signing up for a new residential electricity plan with Red Energy. You can join Qantas Frequent Flyer for free when you sign up for a Qantas Red plan. Earn 10,000 bonus points for choosing an electricity plan and 5,000 bonus points for choosing a gas plan^, then earn points per dollar when you pay your bill on time. Airfares: This one’s pretty well known – fly on eligible flights with Qantas and Jetstarᘯ, and you’ll earn points, so go out and see the world! What most travellers may not know is that you can also earn points if:
- You book an eligible flight; and
- It’s with a carrier that’s a Qantas Frequent Flyer partner airline or a member of the oneworld® alliance – the global airline partnership that Qantas is part of. Some of these airlines include British Airways, Emirates, China Eastern and Fiji Airways. So that city stay or beach break you want to take could earn you points towards your next trip! Some big international hotel chains also let you convert their points to Qantas Points. So if you’ve got points with a variety of different hotel loyalty programs, consider consolidating.

Car hire: Need a city runabout for a business trip? Or a family holiday car? Or even a moving van or mini-bus? Book a car and drive up your Qantas Points balance. You could earn four Qantas Points for every AU$1 value on eligible time and kilometre charges on car hire in Australia.≫
Alcohol: Purchase premium wines, champagne and gourmet snacks from Qantas Wine to earn 1 point per $1. Qantas Wine Premium Members pay an annual fee of $99, have access to exclusive specials and earn 3 points per dollar.∼
Eating out (or in): Planning a birthday lunch, a special night out or just have a hankering for something tasty this evening? Book a restaurant on here, dine and watch that point balance go up, there are over 4,000 eateries to choose from.
Where you can redeem points
