Winter Olympic Silver Medallist Matt Graham Teams Up With Red Energy

Media release 7 May 2018

Red Energy is delighted to announce that Winter Olympic Moguls Silver Medallist, World Cup winner and recently awarded joint winner of the Ski and Snowboard Australia Athlete of the Year, Matt Graham has joined its team of ambassadors.

“Matt represents Australia with skill, pride and integrity, these are attributes that resonate with us at Red,” said Neil Thew, Red Energy’s Regional Business Development Manager for Southern NSW.

“Red Energy is 100% owned by Snowy Hydro, so our relationship with the mountains and the snow is indelibly linked. Asking Matt to come on-board to represent our brand and our values in the Snowy Mountains was an easy decision; he exhibits all the right qualities as an athlete, but more importantly as a person,” concluded Mr. Thew.

This winter, Matt will be seen on the ski slopes in the Snowy Mountains at NSW Snowsports Interschools events on behalf of Red Energy and also skiing with the lucky winners of Red’s snow holiday promotion.

Matt, who trains at the NSW snow resort of Perisher, was one of only three Olympians out of 51 Australian team members to medal at the Winter Games held at PyeongChang, Korea in February; an incredible result.

2018 marked redemption for Matt, who as a 19 year old at the Sochi Olympics in 2014 came agonisingly close to reaching the moguls skiing final, missing out by just 0.01 of a point, to finish 7th. Matt was thoroughly gracious in defeat and through hard work and determination he set his sights on Korea and it paid off.

Matt will continue with his training in Perisher this coming winter, with the World Championships earmarked in 2019 in Are Sweden and long term, chasing an Olympic Gold Medal at the 2022 Winter Games in Beijing.

“I’m really looking forward to getting the skis back on this winter and thanks to Red Energy’s support, I can mix a bit of fun on the slopes this season with the main focus on serious training for a World Championship title in 2019,’’ said Matt Graham.

Matt joins other Red Energy ambassadors, 2020 Paralympic Silver medalist Lauren Parker and Newcastle Knights rugby league legend Danny Buderus.
