Electricity safety – Queensland

If you are building a new home or planning on doing renovations and require electrical works to be done, you must use a registered electrical contractor. To check if your electrician is licensed, please visit Electrical contractor licences at WorkSafe.qld.gov.au

A Certificate of Testing and Compliance for electrical installation works will be provided for all electrical installation works. To find out more about Certificate of Testing and Compliance, click here.

The Queensland Service and Installation Rules apply to all connections to the electricity supply networks operated by Electricity Distributors (Energex and Ergon Energy) and all electricity installations connected to electricity supply are required to meet these standards.
