Solar Feed-in Tariff (FiT) Eligibility
If you are a solar customer and have signed up to one of our residential or business plans, then to be eligible to receive your FiT for excess electricity exported to the grid:
- your solar photovoltaic (PV) system must be net metered and meet state based eligibility
- we have received confirmation from your distributor that your solar PV system has been connected to the distribution system.
What is a solar Feed-in tariff (FiT)?
A solar FiT is a credit customers on eligible solar plans receive for excess electricity that their solar PV system generates and exports to the power grid. A solar FiT is credited per kilowatt hour (kWh) of electricity that is exported to the grid, and appears as a credit on your electricity bill.
Changes to solar Feed-in Tariff (FiT)
Our solar FiT is subject to change. We will send you a written notice of any rate change before it affects you.
There are a number of factors taken into consideration for the change to your solar FiT including actual and projected wholesale costs. We may also change your solar FiT to align with the recommended benchmark and minimum FiTs set by independent bodies and Government regulators.
Government rebates and schemes
There are a number of past solar schemes which offer eligible customers a higher solar buy back rate. These schemes often operate in addition to the ‘retailer’ FiT offered by Red. For further details on these schemes click on the links below:

If you have an existing government FiT that we are required to carry-over from your existing retailer we will do so.
