Red Energy is proud to sponsor Lauren Parker, Commonwealth Games Bronze medallist in the para-triathlon. Lauren competed on the Gold Coast less than twelve months since an horrific accident on her bike that left her a paraplegic.
Lauren sustained broken ribs, a punctured lung, broken scapula, broken pelvis and a broken back. She was given a one percent chance of ever walking again.
“All I can remember is lying on the road on my back, a lady holding my neck, who had stopped in a car alongside the road, and I was in so much pain,” recalls Lauren of the accident. “I feel like I’d lost my whole life.” But after spending just three months in rehab, Lauren checked herself out and set herself the goal of competing again.
Lauren is back to training twice a day and despite being in constant pain she is determined to push her body to its limits to realise her dream of making the Paralympic team in triathlon in 2020. One day she would like to return to Hawaii to compete in the Kona Ironman event.
To help her achieve that goal, Red Energy has sponsored Lauren for the next two years. With the funds Red has provided Lauren has purchased a car. The vehicle will give Lauren the independence to attend training sessions and medical appointments without relying on a carer.
We are incredibly excited to have Lauren join Red Energy as an Ambassador.
